Poly-HEMA as a material for intraocular lens implantation: a preliminary report.

چکیده
A soft material (poly-HEMA) has been implanted into a number of rabbit eyes in order to evaluate its use in lens implantation following cataract surgery. No reaction to the implant was seen on light microscopy of the sectioned enucleated eyes.

Treatment of ophidism-induced bilateral canine cataract by extracapsular lens extraction and intraocular lens implantation
The aim of this study was to report a new cause of cataract, namely snake bite induced cataract in a dog. A 3-year-old male mongrel dog was referred to our clinic for the assessment of cataract in both eyes. The dog was bitten by a snake nearly 4 months ago. A 40 dioptre acrylic lens with 13 mm haptics was implanted into the lens capsule. In the left eye, posterior synechia was detected in the ...
متن کاملIntralenticular Cilia Following Penetrating Ocular Trauma: A Case Report
Penetrating ocular trauma is one of the most important causes of vision loss, especially in men, and can be associated with intraocular foreign bodies. The incidence of intraocular cilia after trauma is very low. Here we report the case of a 24-year-old man who visited Poostchi Ophthalmology Clinic (Shiraz, Iran) due to a gradual vision loss in his left eye over the past 2 months. The probable ...
متن کاملStructural And Mechanical Behaviour Of P(Hema) Hydrogel For Lumbar Disc Prosthesis
Poly(2-hydroxyethyl methacrylate) p(HEMA) is a biocompatible polymer that forms a hydrogel when mixed with water. Water content and oxygen permeability, mechanical properties of p(HEMA) hydrogel can be controlled by cross-linking rate or by copolymerization; that is why p(HEMA) hydrogels have multiple biomedical applications. This paper objective was to analyse a biomaterial made of p(HEMA) for...

متن کاملHistopathological Analyses of the Differences in Foreign Body Cell Reactions against Intraocular Lenses According to the Period of Implantation
We examine if cell adhesion to the surface of an intraocular lens varies with the period of implantation. Samples of extracted intraocular lenses (IOLs) that had been implanted during 1987-2000 (n=72, early group) and those during 2001–2014 (n=182, late group) were included. IOLs were stained with hematoxylin and eosin and grouped according to the presence or absence of cellular deposits on the...
